FSC: 2257 Public Comment Period Ends Sept. 10

CANOGA PARK, Calif. — The Department of Justice's public comment period for the proposed 2257 rules and regulations ends Sept. 10. The Free Speech Coalition has been running an initiative to encourage adult industry members to participate.

“Don’t count on other adult industry members to fight this battle for you,” FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said. “The Free Speech Coalition is currently challenging, and will continue to challenge, the federal government every step of the way on this overly burdensome law, but we are going to need a broad level of support and participation from the industry.

"If the DOJ doesn’t hear from us on this issue en masse, the assumption will be that we simply don’t care — which is patently untrue. Please send in your comment or sign on to FSC’s industry statement today.”

FSC is offering industry professionals assistance in preparing comments. Any member who sends an email to FSC at legal@freespeechcoalition.com explaining the problems they are having with 2257 will receive a document ready for submission with instructions on how to submit it. FSC must receive the email no later than noon PDT on Sept. 9.

The FSC also has prepared a group statement regarding the proposed 2257 rules and regulations, which is posted on this page of the FSC website. Members can email FSC to sign on to the statement and FSC will add the member's name — or the member's company’s name — to the list.

Adult industry members also can submit public comments directly here or use the electronic form provided on the Justice Department website. Comments submitted electronically must include "Docket No. CRM 104" in the subject box.

Comments also can be faxed to (202) 514-1793. The words "Docket No. CRM 104" must appear on the cover sheet.

All comments must be received by Sept. 10.
